WORSHIP | |
Our 8:30 service is more intimate and informal. The piano is used rather than the pipe organ. Holy Communion is served every Sunday at this service. While the 10:50 service is traditional in nature, it has something for everybody. Special music is provided by the Chancel Choir, the Bell Choir, GodSong, or Spirit Singers. Our outstanding pipe organ is used primarily in this service; however, some contemporary hymns and choruses are played on the baby grand piano. Many of our special services for Easter and Christmas will also include additional musical instruments. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month. Our 9:30 Christian Education program offers rotational Sunday School classes for Children and Youth, as well as diversified programs for Adults. |

MUSIC
The Spirit Singers, a 12 member ensemble, sings mostly contemporary Christian music. Membership is limited and auditions are required. Spirit Singers perform in the 10:50 worship service approximately every six weeks, as well as Christmas and Easter. All
elementary children are encouraged to participate in children's music
which meets at 9:30 on Sunday mornings in the choir room. In the months
leading up to Christmas, music time is dedicated to the Children's
Christmas program. After Christmas, the children learn the music that
will be sung during the children's worship service. The weeks leading
up to Easter, an anthem is prepared for Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday.
After Easter, music time is devoted to the songs for Vacation Bible
School. |

SPECIAL & SEASONAL SERVICES
During Holy Week, special services are held on Palm Sunday, Maundy (Holy) Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. Maundy Thursday represents the last meal that Jesus had with his disciples. A Tenebrae Service (this service symbolizes Jesus's crucifixion by extinguishing candles) is held on Good Friday with special music provided by the Chacel Choir and Spirit Singers. Easter Sunday is full of joy and activity. In addition to the two services, we manage to fit in a brunch and an Easter Egg Hunt for children. The third Sunday of May is Graduation Sunday. This is the time that we honor all of our high school and college graduates in worship. Each graduate is recognized in the 10:50 service and presented a gift. The United Methodist Women serve as hostesses for brunch at 9:30 AM for the graduates and their families. A patriotic service is held the Sunday before Independence Day when we celebrate the birth of our wonderful nation! All Saint's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in November. We remember those friends and loved ones who have gone to be with the saints in Heaven by lighting a candle in memory of each person as their name is read aloud. The Sunday before Thanksgiving we give thanks for the many blessings God has given us. |
